HIGHLIGHTS

Malana is an ancient village with its unique culture. Ghepan Devta of Lahaul is the brother of Devta Jamlu. The Devta comes to Kullu during Dussehra but does not cross river Beas and stays near Kharahal Dobhi on the left side of the river. Jamlu travels to Manikaran and Rudr Nag on pilgrimage. Animal sacrifice is practiced. One lamb is sacrificed to Akbar the Great in Islamic tradition. No outsider can enter the temple or touch it. Jamlu has no rath but has symbols. There are two big swords of the Devta, Chander Has and Tunda Has. Legend has it that Devta Jamlu came from Tibet to Hansa in Spiti and then crossed Hamta Pass to enter Beas Valley and then crossed Chander Khani Pass to reach Malana.
