HIGHLIGHTS

Pataarni Nag is the son of Boodhi Nagin. This Nag moving through places like Shai, Paneu, Jhakhdu, etc. finally reached at a place named mountain of Pataarna, where there resided Mahakali. To get there a place for himself he fought with Kali and defeated her. The devi was pleased on this and she provided him a place. After this passing through a cave he exited near the Patarana village. There he saw that ‘Marechh’ lived there. Changing his appearance he got mixed up with him. One day while dancing with him, ‘Marechh’ came to know that the visitor was a Nag. So he tried to kill him but the Nag, passing through a cave escaped to a village below named Pataarna. After long contest when ‘Marechh’s was finished, the devata established his dominance in the area and became famous as Pataarna Nag.
