HIGHLIGHTS
According to Bhartha (the pronouncements made by the devi about her origins) Devi Damasan is one of the four Chambhus and seven Bharadi Devis born from Bada Kui. As she was going in search of a place to settle, a Naga named Jhakdu advised her to kill the Thakur (chief) of Jadai region, Shardu Singh and establish her estate. The Thakur had put 60 Halis and 60 Kudalis (120 workers in all) to work on his farm. One day wife of the Thakur was carrying lunch for the workers in the fields. One the way she felt so hungry that she ate food meant for all the workers. She was surprised. Further on reaching there she got to know that her husband had died suddenly. She enquired from an astrologer who told her about the Devi and asked her to build a temple for her. Temples were then made in the honour of the devi in the villages of Kushwa and Shah and Gangveel.
